Head of Dramaturgy Oper Leipzig
Marlene Hahn is a graduate of the Elite Graduate Programme Ethics of Text Cultures, which she completed in autumn 2011 alongside her studies in German and Art History at the University of Augsburg. From 2007 to 2008, she worked in marketing and sales management in New York City. After her return, she took up her double degree in Augsburg and intensified her involvement in the cultural sector: she worked for the Brecht and Mozart festivals and was assistant director for opera productions at the Augsburg Theatre. From 2010 to 2015, she worked as a dramaturg at the Augsburg Theatre. From 2015 to 2022, she held the same position at Oper Graz. At Oper Graz she also wrote and directed the collage evening “Hotel Elefant”, which was performed at Hotel Wiesler (2017 and 2019) and Harrison Birtwistle’s contemporary opera “The Corridor”. In 2015, she was awarded the Augsburg Theatre Prize and named a Richard Wagner Fellow by the Wagner Forum Graz in 2017. She has worked with directors including Lorenzo Fioroni, Monique Wagemakers, Florentine Klepper, Bernd Mottl, Peter Lund, Nadja Loschky, Verena Stoiber, and Ilaria Lanzino.
Marlene Hahn has been Head of Dramaturgy at Oper Leipzig since the season 2022/23 . In addition to her management duties and dramaturgical work, she directs, among others, Peter Maxwell Davies’ “Majesty & Madness”.
